Poet and curator Anaïs Duplan researched avantgarde practices of artists of color for six years and bundled the results in the form of an essay collection. The futuristic quality of it, the captivating mix of poetry, reflections and interviews and just the easygoing wisdom of it all make this a super enjoyable read. Most of the essays are about others but in the last one Anaïs opens up about his trans* experience and the process of writing the book and it really is the perfect end to this collection (although I hope for more!).
